By Producer > Croatia > ORTONERO

The Ortonero winery was established in 2001 in the middle of the area famous for the production of MALVASIA ISTRIANA. All the vineyards are situated on the slopes of the Verteneglio hills with a view of the sea just 8 km east. The terroir of this area varies with some plots of white clay and others of red contributing very different characteristics to each of the wines. The winery is modern and entirely up to date in its vinification equipment. Ortonero’s mission is to use only native grapes from the region and more especially Malvasia Istriana. Ortonero produces 200,000 bottles of wine a year. The winery has the potential to produce about 400,000 bottles a year which is judged to be the maximum number consistent with the quality it seeks.
